New Caledonian Woodlands is closing

New Caledonian Woodlands

Manager and Board Statement

It is with great sadness that we must announce that over the last month New Caledonian Woodlands has been going through the process of closing the charity.  We have been unsuccessful in securing the grant funding we need in order to continue our work and despite the best efforts of the board and staff to find an alternative solution we have been left with no alternative but to wind the charity up. This decision was taken at the beginning of October and at that point all control of the organisation was handed to an insolvency practitioner to carry out the proper and legal process of liquidating the company.  Employees have been made redundant and all our project activity has ceased.

The Manager and Board are extremely sorry that the charity is unable to continue despite the best efforts of everyone that has tried to make this work.  This has been an extremely sad and emotional time for all those involved with New Caledonian Woodlands. We would like to thank all of you for your support and commitment to New Caledonian Woodlands over the past 12 years.  We have achieved so many good things together and we know that legacy will live on in each of our staff members, participants, volunteers and supporters.
For all our project participants we have created a document, as comprehensive as we could, compiling similar and relevant services in and around Edinburgh that we hope can support the people that we no longer can.

We also have it on our Facebook page for people to find: https://www.facebook.com/NewCaledonianWoodlands/

The Facebook page will stay up for the time being as ‘Friends of New Caledonian Woodlands’ and may serve as a place for people who have worked with us to continue to connect with each other.

Our heartfelt thanks and good wishes to you all.
