Beginners Bowl Carving Weekend

Saturday 28th October 2017 – Sunday 29th October 2017

Green hub site, Edinburgh

Over this two day course at our leafy hub site, we will introduce you to the processes involved in carving simple bowls from green wood.

We’ll be making our bowls using green (unseasoned) wood meaning that it’s much easier to carve and utilising traditional techniques.  We’ll take you through the entire process using adzes, hatchets, a variety of gouges and specialist edge tools. We will discuss suitable wood, how to cleave it down and think about design and process before we start work to create a wonderful object of form and beauty with your own hands.  At the end of the weekend, your bowl will ready for taking home to season and finish.  This is a great chance to learn some skills in a safe and stimulating environment and come away with something to treasure!

We will provide a delicious vegetarian lunch and warm drinks and snacks throughout the day both days. Please let us know in advance if you have any special dietary requirements.

We are asking everyone to meet at our new Edinburgh “hub” just off Old Dalkeith Road at 10am each day and we should finish up around 5pm.
