My Carbon Journey

Are you concerned about climate change and its impact on your friends, family and community?

Do you want to reduce your environmental impact and learn new skills for a low carbon future?

My Carbon Journey is a carbon reduction project designed to create a shift in attitudes, values and behaviours. It delivers engaging activities that increase our personal connection with climate change and help us turn beliefs into lifestyle changes. We’ll show you how a low-carbon lifestyle can make you feel happier and more fulfilled!

Climate change – the science

What images do you conjure when you hear the words climate change? One of the first steps in addressing climate change is understanding it.

Global emissions must peak by 2020 and reduce steadily from then. This means that we all need to make changes to the way we live our lives – to reduce our emissions and to demonstrate to those around us that doing so can be pretty positive.

Question: How do you get from this – 15 tonnes of CO2 emissions per annum (current UK average per citizen)

To this 2 tonnes of emissions per annum (global average per citizen needed by 2050)? *

Answer: One step at a time. My Carbon Journey can help.

Funded by the Esmee Fairbairn Foundation, when My Carbon Journey (previously Planet Pledge) first ran between 2010 and 2013 it:

  • Engaged 1,295 participants
  • Achieved a total reduction of 1203 CO2e.
  • Helped participants reduce their individual annual CO2e emissions by an average of 4.6%.

We’re excited to re-launch the project and we want you to get involved!
